These lizards can reach seven feet in length.
They are black in color, with yellow spots. |
| Climate |
The Water Monitor is native to Asia, and a warm
climate is required. A basking lamp should be
provided. Keep the temperature in the mid to high
80's. |
| Habitat |
Due to the size these can grow to, a large
terrarium is required. The water monitor likes to
swim, so a suitable size pool should be included.
Although they are not as prone to climbing as some
other types, sturdy branches should be provided. |
| Feeding |
The water monitor will eat rodents (pre-killed
are preferable), cooked eggs, well cooked chicken,
or commercial reptile diet. Some are known to eat
cat food as well. |
