Chamaelo calyptratus |
| Description |
The veiled chameleon is green in color, with
blue and/or white markings. They can grow up to
two feet in length, tail included. |
| Climate |
They are native to North Africa, and show be
kept at a temperature in the mid 80's. |
| Habitat |
Provide a tall cage, with good ventilation. It
is preferable if at least the sides are made of
mesh instead of wood or glass. Provide plenty ot
tall branches or plants for climbing, and some
leafy plants to provide hiding areas. A heat lamp
should be used to create a basking area. Use a
plant mister to provide humidity, and drinking
water. |
| Feeding |
The veiled chameleon is omnivorous. It will eat
a variety of insects, such as crickets or
mealworms, as well as plants or leafy vegetables.
Make sure that any plants used are non-toxic to
the chameleon; hibiscus is a good choice. |
