Tree Monitor
Descriptions,
habitats, and feeding information on tree monitor.
| Species |
Varanus prasinus |
| Description |
The tree monitor is green in color, with black
markings. They are among the smaller of the
monitors, reaching approximately three feet in
length. |
| Climate |
A warm, but not excessively hot climate is
required. 85F is typical, as they are native to
Australia and New Guineau. Use a heat lamp to
provide one or more basking areas so that the
monitor can regulate it's temperature. |
| Habitat |
They are climbers; a tall terrarium is required
with a good selection of climbing branches. |
| Feeding |
Insects are suitable, crickets and so on. Hard
boiled eggs will be eaten, as well as commercial
reptile food. |
