| Description |
The Mangrove Monitor is dark green. They
normally have small yellow spots. The underside is
often lighter, and may have dark spots. They grow
to approxiamtely five feet in length. |
| Climate |
This lizard is native to Australia, New Guinea
and some Pacific islands. Temperatures in the mid
to high 80's are appropriate. |
| Habitat |
The Mangrove Monitor lives in forests and
jungles. It must be provided with a suitably sized
habitat, well over five feet in length. They do
climb, so a good selection of climbing branches is
needed. Make sure that they can handle the weight
of this lizard! A basking spot is needed, and a
fair sized un-tippable water disk. Provide a
suitable dark hiding spot. |
| Feeding |
They will eat insects (crickets, etc.), as well
as rodents or commercial reptile diet. Some will
take cat food. |
